Car Log (Fuel & Maintenance)
Record fill-ups and services to track fuel economy, cost per kilometre and what is due next
Loading the tool…
A log for one or more vehicles: record fill-ups, charges, services and other costs, and see the fuel economy, cost per kilometre, monthly spending and which service is due next. Everything stays on this device.
How to use
- Press "Add a vehicle" and choose its fuel, distance unit and fuel unit. Remove the example records first if you do not need them.
- On "Fill-ups", enter the date, odometer, amount filled and amount paid. Untick "Filled to full" for a partial fill.
- Record work on "Services" and insurance, parking or tolls on "Other costs".
- On "Service reminders", add each item with the interval from your owner's manual to see the next due distance and date.
- Use "Data and print" to save a CSV file, back up as JSON, print the log or print a blank form.
How it works
- Fuel economy uses the full-to-full method: distance between two full fill-ups ÷ all fuel added after the first one, including partial fills. Fills before the first full fill-up are not measured.
- The cost per km uses the fuel of the measured segments; "All costs per km" divides every recorded cost by the distance between the lowest and highest odometer readings.
- No service intervals are built in. Records are kept in this browser only; back them up to keep a copy.
Questions and answers
- How do I calculate fuel economy from fill-ups?
- Fill to full, note the odometer, and at the next full fill divide the distance driven by the fuel added. 600 km on 45 litres is 13.3 km/L.
- What do I do with a partial fill?
- Record it with "Filled to full" unticked. Its fuel is added to the next full fill-up, so the economy stays correct.
- How do I know when the next oil change is due?
- Add a reminder with the interval in distance or months from the manual. The next due point is counted from the latest service record with the same item name.
- Can I move my records to another device?
- Yes. Back up as JSON and restore it on the other device, or save a CSV file and import it there.
