Loading the tool…
Calculates the sale price from the original price and the percent off, the percent off from two prices, or the original price from the sale price. It also handles stacked discounts, bundle deals and unit price comparison.
How to use
- In "Sale price", "Percent off" or "Original price", enter the two values you know; the result appears at once.
- When discounts are combined, enter "First discount" and "Extra discount (coupon)" under "Stacked discounts" to see the "Total discount" and "Final price".
- Under "Bundle deals (buy 1 get 1, 3 for 10)", enter "Price of one" and the deal to get the "Real price per item" and "Real discount".
- Under "Unit price comparison", enter the price, size and unit of two products to see which is cheaper per unit.
How it works
- Sale price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100); percent off = (1 − sale price ÷ original price) × 100; original price = sale price ÷ (1 − discount ÷ 100).
- Stacked discounts apply one after another. After 20% off and then 10% off, 0.8 × 0.9 = 0.72 of the price is left, so the total discount is 28%.
- With "Add sales tax" on, the price with the tax rate you enter is also shown. The tax rate is your own input.
- Weight and volume units are not compared with each other. Your inputs are saved in this browser on this device.
Questions and answers
- What is 20% off 80?
- 80 × 0.8 = 64, so the sale price is 64 and you save 16.
- Is 20% off plus a 10% coupon the same as 30% off?
- No. The coupon applies to the already reduced price, so the total discount is 28%.
- What percent off is buy one get one free?
- You get 2 items for the price of 1, which is 50% off. Buy two get one free gives 3 items for the price of 2, about 33.33% off.
- How do I calculate the percent off?
- Percent off = (original price − sale price) ÷ original price × 100. An item reduced from 80 to 60 is 25% off.
