Photo & Paper Sizes at Real Size
See ID photo, passport photo and paper sizes as real-size outlines on your screen
Loading the tool…
Draws passport photo, ID photo, paper, envelope and photo print sizes as outlines at real size on your screen. Use it to see and compare a size before you take a photo or print something.
How to use
- On your first visit, press "Calibrate screen" and match the screen to a card or a coin.
- Open one of the tabs "ID photos", "Paper", "Envelopes & cards" or "Photo prints".
- Tick a size in the table to draw its real-size outline. Tick several and choose "Overlapping" or "Side by side" under "Arrangement" to compare them.
How it works
- Up to 6 sizes can be compared at once. A size larger than the screen is drawn smaller, and the scale is shown.
- The dashed ovals inside a photo frame show the smallest and largest head length allowed (top of the head to the chin). The photo sizes were checked against government guidance in October 2026; check the issuing authority's guidance again before you submit.
- "Customary" sizes are not a standard but sizes in common use in Korea, and may differ from place to place.
- Paper covers the ISO 216 A and B series, the JIS B series and North American sizes such as Letter and Legal.
Questions and answers
- What size is a passport photo?
- It depends on the country. South Korea, Japan, the UK and Germany use 35 × 45 mm, while the US uses 2 × 2 in (51 × 51 mm). The table also lists the allowed head length for each country included.
- What size is A4 paper in mm?
- 210 × 297 mm. Each A size is the previous one folded in half along its long side, so A5 is 148 × 210 mm and A3 is 297 × 420 mm. US Letter is 8.5 × 11 in (215.9 × 279.4 mm).
- Is B5 the same as JIS B5?
- No. ISO B5 is 176 × 250 mm and JIS B5 is 182 × 257 mm. The B5 used for notebooks and books in Japan and Korea is usually JIS B5.
