Words of the day
5, 10 or 20 words a day: see them, hear them, check yourself with a quiz, then send them to the flash drill
Loading the tool…
Picks 5, 10 or 20 words a day and shows each with its meaning and pronunciation. Check yourself with a multiple-choice quiz, then send the set to the flash drill for spaced review.
How to use
- Choose the "Language I am learning" and "Language I know", then set "Words per day" and a "Topic".
- Press "Listen" on a card for its pronunciation, or "Listen to all" to hear today's words in turn.
- Take the quiz with "See the word, pick the meaning" or "See the meaning, pick the word"; the result lists the words you missed.
- Press "Send to flash drill" to add today's words to a deck in the flash drill tool.
- If a meaning looks wrong, press "Looks wrong" to send a correction request.
How it works
- On the same day, with the same count and topic, everyone gets the same words. The left arrow opens earlier days.
- Words are grouped in 15 topics: basics, food, home, family, body, clothes, travel, work, time, nature, verbs, adjectives, devices, feelings and places.
- Quiz choices are drawn from the whole word list, so words outside today's set can appear as wrong answers.
- Streaks are saved only in this browser on this device.
Questions and answers
- Do the words change when I change the count?
- Yes. Each count and topic combination has its own set for the day. Returning to the same combination brings the same words back.
- Can I review only the words I missed?
- The quiz result lists them. For repeated review, send today's words to the flash drill; cards you mark as missed there come back first.
- How do the Latin American Spanish words differ?
- Only words that differ by region are written separately, such as carro and coche, celular and móvil, computadora and ordenador. The rest are shared.
