Situation of the day
One everyday situation a day: a short dialogue to listen to, then take one side and say your lines
Loading the tool…
Shows one everyday situation a day as a short dialogue: ordering at a restaurant, asking for directions, a visit to the pharmacy. Listen to the whole exchange, then take one side and say your lines with them hidden.
How to use
- Choose the "Language I am learning" and "Language I know".
- Press "Listen to all" to hear the whole dialogue, or "Listen" on a line to hear it alone. "Reading speed" sets the pace.
- Under "My role", choose A or B to hide your lines. Say each one aloud, then tap the hidden line to check it.
- Turn off "Show meanings" to see only the learning language. Earlier situations are available with the left arrow.
- If a line reads wrong, press "Looks wrong" on that line to send a correction request.
How it works
- Everyone sees the same situation on the same calendar day.
- Each dialogue is a short exchange of about six lines between two speakers, A and B.
- Reading aloud uses the browser's speech synthesis, so quality depends on the voices installed on the device.
- Streaks are saved only in this browser on this device.
Questions and answers
- How does the role play work?
- Choose B under "My role" and B's lines are hidden. Listen to A, say what B would answer, then tap the hidden line to compare with the actual line.
- Can I pick a situation myself?
- Each day has a fixed situation; the left arrow opens any earlier day.
- Is there a separate Latin American Spanish version?
- Only lines that differ from Spanish from Spain are written separately. For example, answering the phone with "¿Diga?" becomes "¿Bueno?" or "¿Aló?" in Latin America.
