Marketplace Fee & Profit Calculator

Net profit and margin after selling fees, payment fees, shipping and ad cost — or the price you need for a target margin

Loading the tool…

Works out how much you keep from one online sale after marketplace fees, shipping, packaging and ad cost, and what margin that is. It also finds the selling price needed for a target margin or profit.

How to use

  1. Under "Product", enter the "Selling price", "Item cost", "Shipping charged to buyer", "Your shipping cost" and "Packaging".
  2. Under "Ad cost as", choose "% of sales" or "Amount per order" and enter the value.
  3. Pick a "Fee set" or enter the fees in "Enter your own". Press "Save these fees as a new set" to keep them under a name.
  4. Read "Profit per order", "Margin" and "Break-even price", then enter a target under "Price for a target".
  5. Under "Compare marketplaces", tap sets to see the same product side by side.

Questions and answers

Do marketplace fees apply to shipping too?
It depends on the marketplace. Two checkboxes in the fee set decide whether the selling fee and the payment fee are also charged on the shipping the buyer pays.
Can I use it for a marketplace that is not listed?
Yes. Choose "Enter your own", copy the rates from that marketplace's fee page and save them as a new set.
What price do I need for a 30% profit margin?
Enter 30 under "Target margin". The price includes all fees and ad cost and is rounded up to the smallest currency unit. If the fee rates, ad rate and target margin add up to 100% or more, the result is "Not possible".
What is the break-even price?
The selling price at which profit is zero. Below it you lose money on every order, and the page shows a warning.
