IQ-style Brain Test
A just-for-fun reasoning test with pattern matrices and number series
Loading the tool…
A brain test with pattern matrices, number series, rotation and mirror puzzles and figure analogies. It shows how many you got right and an estimated index for fun. New questions are generated for every test.
How to use
- Under "Test length", choose "Full test" (30 questions, 25 minutes) or "Quick test" (12 questions, 10 minutes) and press "Start test".
- Tap one of the six options or press the keys 1 to 6. Press "Skip" if you are unsure; skipped questions come back at the end.
- When you answer all questions or press "Finish test", you see the number correct, the results "By question type" and the "Estimated index".
- Check the rule behind each wrong answer under "Answers and explanations", and press "Take a new test" for different questions.
How it works
- Each question has a difficulty from 1 to 5 points. Estimated index = 85 + 60 × (difficulty points of correct answers ÷ all difficulty points).
- The number is not compared with anyone else's results, so it is not an IQ. It is a score for fun and is not standardised.
- An unfinished test and your last result are saved in this browser, so you can close the page and use "Continue test" later.
Questions and answers
- Is this a real IQ score?
- No. It places the share of points you earned on a straight line from 85 to 145. It is not a standardised test based on the results of many people.
- How is the score calculated?
- Harder questions are worth more points. All correct gives 145, none correct gives 85, and earning half of the difficulty points gives 115.
- What kinds of questions are in the test?
- Four kinds: pattern matrices where you complete a 3×3 grid, number series, finding a rotated or mirrored figure, and figure analogies where you apply the change from A to B to C. The questions get harder as you go.
- What happens when the time runs out?
- The test ends, and questions you did not answer are counted as wrong.
