Pomodoro Timer
A focus timer that alternates 25 minutes of work with 5-minute breaks
Loading the tool…
A Pomodoro timer that alternates 25 minutes of focus with 5-minute breaks and adds a long break after every four focus sessions. Use it to split study or work into short, timed blocks.
How to use
- Press "Start" to begin a "Focus" session; the time left shows as a ring and in large numbers.
- When a session ends, a sound plays and the next one becomes "Short break" or "Long break". To continue without pressing anything, switch on "Start the next session automatically".
- Under "Settings", change the three lengths in minutes and "Long break every".
- To be alerted while you are in another tab, press "Turn on notifications" and allow them in the browser.
How it works
- The defaults are 25 minutes of focus, a 5-minute short break and a 15-minute long break after every 4 focus sessions. The dots in the ring show progress toward the long break.
- While the timer runs, the tab title shows the time left and the screen stays on. Shortcuts: Space to start or pause, R to restart the session.
- Only completed focus sessions go into the "Focus log", which is saved only in this browser on this device. Sessions passed with "Skip" are not counted.
Questions and answers
- What is the Pomodoro technique?
- A time management method: work for 25 minutes, rest for 5, and take a longer break of about 15 to 30 minutes after four rounds. The defaults of this timer follow it.
- Can I use 50-minute focus sessions?
- Yes. Enter 50 in "Focus" under "Settings". A focus session can be 1 to 180 minutes long.
- Does the timer stop in another tab?
- No. It counts toward a fixed end time, so it finishes on time in a background tab. With notifications on, you are alerted then.
- Can I see how many sessions I finished today?
- The "Focus log" shows today's focus sessions and focus time, with bars for the last 7 days. "Clear log" deletes it.
