Counts the days you spent in the Schengen area in the 180 days up to a chosen date and how many of the 90 allowed days remain.
How to use
- Enter the entry and exit date of each trip under "Stays in the Schengen area", or use "Paste dates". Tick "Planned" for future trips.
- Set the "Reference date (day to check)"; the days used and left appear at once.
- Read "Longest stay if you enter on the reference date" and "Full 90 days available again on".
- Check "Day-by-day check of each stay" for any day over 90.
How it works
- Rule: Schengen Borders Code (Regulation (EU) 2016/399, Article 6), no more than 90 days in any 180-day period. Each day is checked against that day and the 179 days before it.
- Entry and exit days both count; a day in overlapping stays counts once.
- For reference only: the authorities decide on entry, and a visa may allow fewer days. Stays are saved only in this browser.
Questions and answers
- How do I calculate the Schengen 90/180 rule?
- Pick a day, count back 180 days including that day, and add up the days you were in the Schengen area. The total must not be over 90 on any day of your stay.
- Do the entry and exit days count?
- Yes. A trip from 1 to 10 March counts as 10 days, and entering and leaving on the same day counts as 1 day.
- When can I stay 90 days again?
- After 90 days in a row outside the Schengen area you can stay up to 90 days again.
- Why can I stay longer than the days left?
- While you stay, your oldest days drop out of the 180-day period one by one, so a stay can last longer than today's days left.
