Blur & Pixelate Image
Hide faces, plates and personal details in a photo with blur or pixelation
Loading the tool…
Covers faces, license plates, names, phone numbers and other details in a photo or screenshot with pixelation, blur or a solid box. Use it before you post or send a picture that shows personal information.
How to use
- Drop a photo onto the box or click to choose one. A screenshot can be pasted with Ctrl+V.
- Under "How to hide", choose "Pixelate", "Blur" or "Solid box" and set the "Strength" or the color.
- Choose "Rectangle", "Ellipse" or "Brush" and drag on the photo to mark what to hide. Tap a drawn area to move it, or use its corner handles to resize it.
- Choose "Save as" and press "Save at full size".
How it works
- Light pixelation or blur can sometimes be reversed. A "Solid box" is the safe choice for ID numbers, card numbers, addresses and other important details.
- You can draw several areas and remove them one by one with "Undo". When an area is selected, changed settings apply only to that area.
- The "Find faces" button appears only in browsers that support face detection. Check afterwards that no face was missed.
- The picture is saved at its original resolution, and the saved file contains no EXIF data. The photo is not uploaded.
Questions and answers
- How do I pixelate part of a photo?
- Open the photo, choose "Pixelate" and drag over the part to hide to draw a rectangle or an ellipse. A higher "Strength" makes the blocks larger and harder to read.
- Can pixelated text be read again?
- With small blocks or a light blur, the original text can sometimes be guessed. Use "Solid box" for numbers, addresses and other important details.
- Can it hide faces automatically?
- In browsers that support face detection, a "Find faces" button appears and covers each face it finds with an ellipse. Without that button, draw the areas yourself.
- Does saving make the picture smaller?
- No. "Save at full size" keeps the original pixel size. Only a picture too large for the browser to handle is saved smaller, and the page says so.
