Meme Maker (Text on Photo)
Put bold captions on your own photo and save it
Loading the tool…
Puts bold, outlined text on your own photo, or in bands above and below it, to make a meme. Use it to add a caption to a picture before posting it.
How to use
- Drop a photo onto the box or click to choose one. To work without a photo, press "Start with a blank white picture".
- Select the top or bottom caption and type in "Text". "Add text" adds more captions, and "Add emoji" places an emoji.
- Drag a caption to move it; the yellow corner resizes it and the top circle rotates it. "Font", "Text color", "Outline width" and "Text background" can also be changed.
- Under "Layout", choose "Text on the photo" or "Caption bands above and below", and use "Crop" to change the ratio if needed.
- Choose the "File format" and press "Save meme" or "Copy to clipboard".
How it works
- No meme pictures are included. Use your own photos or pictures you have the right to use.
- The fonts are the ones installed on the device. Where the Impact font is missing, a heavy sans font is shown instead.
- Text wraps to the width of its box automatically. The saved picture is at most 4096 pixels on its longer side.
- Photos are not uploaded; they are processed on this device.
Questions and answers
- How do I add text to a photo?
- A caption is already at the top and the bottom. Select one, change its "Text", drag it into place and save.
- Can I put captions above and below the photo instead of on it?
- Yes. Choose "Caption bands above and below" under "Layout". Bands are added, and you can set "Band position", "Band height" and "Band color".
- Why is my text hard to read on the photo?
- Raise the "Outline width" or turn on "Shadow". If that is not enough, choose "Band" or "Speech bubble" under "Text background".
- Can I paste the meme straight into a chat?
- Press "Copy to clipboard" and paste it into a message box. In browsers that cannot copy images, use "Save meme" to get the file.
