Notepad
A notepad that saves as you type, on this device only
Loading the tool…
A notepad that saves automatically as you type. You can keep many notes and search them, with no sign-up, and they are stored only in this browser. Use it for quick notes, to-do items or text you want to keep at hand.
How to use
- Start typing in the editor. The first line becomes the note's title, and the time of the last save is shown.
- Press "New note" to start another one, and use "Search notes" to find notes by title or text.
- Use "Pin to top" for notes you open often, and "Move to trash" for notes you no longer need.
- Export a note with "Save .txt" or "Save .md", and back up everything now and then with "Back up all notes (JSON)".
How it works
- Notes are stored only in this browser on this device and are never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data deletes them, and private browsing may block saving.
- Notes in the trash are deleted for good 30 days after you move them there; until then, "Restore" brings them back.
- If the same note is edited in two tabs, nothing is overwritten; the page asks which version to keep.
- "Find and replace", "Focus mode", text size, a fixed-width font and Tab-key indenting are available.
Questions and answers
- Can I see my notes on another device?
- No. Notes are stored only in the browser you are using. To move them, save a file with "Back up all notes (JSON)" and drop it onto the notepad on the other device.
- Are my notes kept after I close the page?
- Yes. They are saved as you type, so they are still there when you open the page again. Clearing the browser's site data removes them.
- Can I recover a note I deleted?
- If it went to the trash less than 30 days ago, open the trash and press "Restore". A note removed with "Delete for good" cannot be recovered.
- Can I open a text file as a note?
- Yes. Drop .txt or .md files onto the notepad; each file becomes one note.
