Cooking Timer
Pick the food and how you like it — soft or hard-boiled eggs, pasta, steak — and the timer is set for you
Loading the tool…
A kitchen timer that fills in a typical time when you pick the food and how you like it: eggs, pasta and noodles, steak, vegetables, tea and coffee, or rice. Several timers can run at once.
How to use
- Under "What are you cooking", choose a category such as "Boiled eggs" or "Steak", then the food and the conditions.
- Adjust the "Cooking time" with − and +. Press "Save as my setting" to get that time next time.
- Press "Start timer". A card appears under "Timers"; pick another food to start a second one.
- When a timer ends, a sound plays and the tab title shows it. Multi-step items such as steak signal each new step.
How it works
- All times are typical values that depend on heat, pot, water and food size. For pasta, the package time comes first.
- Egg times start from a 57 g fridge egg lowered into boiling water (soft 6:00, medium 7:30, hard 10:30), adjusted for size and starting temperature, not for altitude.
- Time alone cannot guarantee steak doneness, so the page shows internal temperatures and the USDA safe minimums (whole cuts 63 °C with a 3-minute rest, ground meat 71 °C, poultry 74 °C).
- Timers and your settings are saved in this browser. The screen stays awake while a timer runs.
Questions and answers
- How long to boil a soft-boiled egg?
