Oven to Air Fryer Converter
Convert an oven recipe's temperature and time for an air fryer
Loading the tool…
Turns the temperature and time of an oven recipe into a starting point for an air fryer, and back. It also converts between conventional and fan (convection) ovens and lists °C, °F and gas marks.
How to use
- Choose the direction under "Convert", for example "Oven recipe → air fryer".
- Pick °C or °F under "Temperature unit" and enter "Temperature in the recipe" and "Time in the recipe".
- Tick "The recipe temperature is for a fan oven" if the recipe says fan or convection.
- Read the air fryer temperature and time, and the point at which to shake or turn the food and check it.
- To use your own rule, open "Rules of thumb used (you can change them)" and edit the values.
How it works
- Air fryer temperature = oven temperature − 15 °C (25 °F), rounded to 5°; time = oven time × 0.8. Both values are a common rule of thumb and can be changed.
- Fan oven temperature = conventional temperature − 20 °C (36 °F), as described for fan ovens on Wikipedia.
- The result is never a guarantee that food is cooked; air fryers differ by model and by how full the basket is. Edited rules are saved in this browser.
Questions and answers
- What is 200 °C in an oven in an air fryer?
- About 185 °C, and a 25 minute oven time becomes about 20 minutes. Check halfway, at about 10 minutes.
- How do I convert 400 °F oven time to an air fryer?
- Use about 375 °F and cut the time by roughly a fifth, so 30 minutes becomes about 24.
- Do I need to lower the temperature for a fan oven recipe?
- No. A fan oven temperature is already lower, so the tool keeps it and only shortens the time.
- What gas mark is 180 °C?
- Gas mark 4, which is printed as 350 °F or 180 °C in most recipes.
