Roll any number of dice: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, d100
Loading the tool…
Rolls d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 or d100 dice, or dice with any number of sides you choose, and shows each die and the total. Use it for board games and tabletop role-playing games when you have no dice or need many at once.
How to use
- Under "Dice type", pick a die such as d6 or d20. For another die, choose "Custom" and enter the number of "Sides".
- Set the "Number of dice" and the "Modifier", a number that is added to or subtracted from the total.
- Press "Roll" or the space bar; each die and the total appear and are added to the "History".
- To mix dice types, such as 1d6+1d4, type the expression in the "Dice notation" field.
How it works
- The notation XdY+Z means: roll X dice with Y sides, add them up, then add Z. d% is the same as d100. Subtracting dice is not supported.
- You can roll up to 20 dice in total, with 2 to 1000 sides and a modifier from -1000 to 1000. Six-sided dice are drawn with pips; other dice show numbers.
- The page also shows the lowest, highest and average possible total. The average is (sides + 1) ÷ 2 for each die, added up, plus the modifier.
- Results come from the browser's cryptographic random number generator. Turn off "Show rolling animation" to see results at once. The last 50 rolls are saved on this device.
Questions and answers
- What is a d20?
- A die with 20 faces, where each number from 1 to 20 has the same chance. The number after d is the number of sides, so a common cube-shaped die is a d6.
- What does 2d6+3 mean?
- Roll two six-sided dice, add them, then add 3. The total can be anything from 5 to 15, and the average is 10.
- What is the most common total with two dice?
- With two six-sided dice it is 7. Six of the 36 possible results add up to 7, so the chance is 1/6.
