Wheel Spinner
Type your options and spin the wheel to pick one
Loading the tool…
Turns the options you type into a coloured wheel and spins it to pick one. Use it to choose a meal, a forfeit, a speaker or a prize winner at random from several options.
How to use
- Type or paste the options in "Options, one per line". The wheel gets one slice per line.
- Press "Spin", or tap or swipe the wheel; it turns, slows down and stops, and the option under the pointer appears in large text.
- To stop an option from coming up again, press "Remove from the list" or turn on "Remove the picked option before the next spin".
- Save lists you use often under "Saved lists", and use "Full screen" to show the wheel large in a classroom or at a party.
How it works
- The result is chosen with the browser's cryptographic random number generator before the wheel starts to turn, and the animation stops inside that slice. It never stops on a line between slices.
- "Spin length" is 4 seconds for "Short", 6 for "Normal" and 8 for "Long". When your device is set to reduce motion, the spin is shorter.
- Up to 500 options can be used, and long names are shortened when a slice is narrow. The list, the results and saved lists stay in this browser.
- A link made with "Copy link" contains every option, so anyone who opens it sees the same wheel.
Questions and answers
- Does every option on the wheel have the same chance?
- Yes, unless you give weights. All slices are the same size and equally likely, so with 8 options each has a chance of 1/8.
- Can I make one option more likely?
- Write a star and a number after it, such as "Pizza*3". That option becomes three times as likely and its slice three times as wide. A weight of 0 leaves the option out.
- Can I turn off the sound?
- Yes. Switch off "Tick sound" and neither the ticking nor the sound at the stop is played.
