Random Name Picker
Pick one or more names at random from your list

Picks one or more names at random from a list, or shuffles the whole list. Use it to choose a speaker, a volunteer or a raffle winner, or to set a presentation order.
How to use
- In the "Names" box on the right, type one name per line or paste a column from a spreadsheet.
- Set "How many to pick". To stop the same person from being picked again, turn on "Leave out people already picked".
- Press "Pick"; the names cycle for a moment and then stop on the result. Use "Shuffle the whole list" for a speaking order.
- For several classes or groups, create more lists with "New list" and choose one under "List". "Full screen" works well on a classroom display.
How it works
- The result is decided with the browser's cryptographic random number generator before the names start to cycle, and every remaining name has the same chance. A name typed twice counts as two people.
- Lists and the log are saved only in this browser on this device. A link made with "Copy share link" contains every name in the list, so think about privacy before sharing it.
- Press the space bar or Enter to pick, and F to switch full screen on or off.
Questions and answers
- Can the same person be picked twice?
- By default every pick uses the whole list, so yes. With "Leave out people already picked" on, only the remaining names are used, and "Put everyone back" starts over.
- Can I pick several names at once?
- Yes. Enter a number in "How many to pick" and that many different names are drawn at once, shown in the order they were drawn.
- Is there a record of past draws?
- Each pick and shuffle is kept in the "Log" with the time and the list name, up to the last 100.
