Loading the tool…
Lets you draw a signature with a finger or mouse, or upload a photo of one written on paper, and saves it with a transparent background as PNG or SVG. Use it for a signature picture in a document, PDF or email.
How to use
- On the "Draw" tab, choose the "Pen width" and "Pen color" and sign in the drawing area. Press "Undo" or "Clear" to fix a mistake.
- Press "Save PNG" or "Save SVG". To use it again later, press "Keep on this device".
- To use a signature written on paper, upload a photo on the "Photo of a paper signature" tab.
- Adjust the "Background removal level (brightness)" or press "Set level automatically", then press "Save PNG".
How it works
- Line width changes with drawing speed, so strokes look like pen ink. Saved images are trimmed to the signature and have a transparent background.
- On the photo tab, anything lighter than the level becomes transparent. Lower it if paper texture remains; raise it if the strokes break up.
- Kept signatures are saved only in this browser on this device and can be deleted at any time. Use this for your own signature only; imitating someone else's signature on a document can be forgery.
Questions and answers
- How do I make a signature PNG with a transparent background?
- Draw your signature and press "Save PNG". The PNG has a transparent background, so only the strokes show when you place it on a document or PDF.
- Can I turn a signature written on paper into an image?
- Yes. Sign on white paper with a dark pen, photograph it from above without shadows and upload it on the "Photo of a paper signature" tab. "Ink color" can change it to black or blue.
- What is the difference between PNG and SVG?
- PNG is a picture file that most document programs accept. SVG stores the strokes as vector shapes, so it stays sharp when enlarged.
- Is this an electronic signature?
- No. It is only a picture of a signature and has no function that proves who signed, unlike a certified electronic signature.
