Loading the tool…
Creates a printable Cornell notes page, with a cue column on the left, a notes area on the right and a summary box at the bottom, at the line spacing and sizes you choose. You can also type into the same layout on screen.
How to use
- On "Printable template", choose the "Paper" (A4, Letter, A3 or A5) and the "Orientation".
- Choose the "Note area" style (lines, grid, dots or blank) and set the "Line spacing", "Cue column width" and "Summary height".
- Check the preview and press "Print template". Keep the print scale at 100% (actual size).
- To write on screen, open "Write on screen", type into the cue, notes and summary boxes, and press "Print" or "Save as .md".
How it works
- The metric defaults are 8 mm line spacing, a 60 mm cue column, a 50 mm summary and a 10 mm page margin. The "Unit" can be switched to inches.
- You can switch the "Title, subject and date boxes", "Label each area", rules in the cue column and summary, the rule color and the line width.
- What you type in "Write on screen" is saved automatically in this browser on this device.
Questions and answers
- How do you take Cornell notes?
- During class, write the main ideas in short phrases in the notes area. Afterwards, add key words and questions in the cue column, then sum up the page in a few sentences at the bottom.
- How do I review with Cornell notes?
- Cover the notes area and answer the questions in the cue column from memory, then uncover the notes to check.
- Why is the line spacing wrong when I print?
- The print dialog is probably scaling the page. Choose 100% or actual size instead of fit to page. To get a PDF, choose "Save as PDF" as the printer.
