Brick Breaker
Bounce the ball off your paddle and clear every brick
Loading the tool…
A classic brick breaker game: bounce the ball off your paddle and break every brick at the top of the field. There are 15 stages, and you can play in the browser with a mouse, a keyboard or touch.
How to use
- Click the field or press Space to start. On a phone, tap the field.
- Move the paddle with the mouse or the ← → (A, D) keys, and launch the ball with a click, Space or ↑. On touch, drag a finger left and right and lift it to launch.
- Broken bricks sometimes drop an item; catch it with the paddle to get its effect. When every breakable brick is gone, the next stage begins.
- Press P or Esc to pause, and "Start over" to begin again from stage 1.
How it works
- Coloured bricks break with one hit and black bricks with a yellow stripe need two. Grey plates cannot be broken and are not needed to clear a stage.
- There are four items: "Long paddle" (15 seconds), "Three balls", "Slow ball" (10 seconds) and "Pierce" (8 seconds). With several balls, you lose a life only when the last one is gone.
- You have 3 lives, and the ball gets a little faster with each stage. The game pauses when you switch tabs, and your best score is saved on this device only.
Questions and answers
- How do I control the direction of the ball?
- A ball that hits the middle of the paddle goes almost straight up; the nearer the edge it lands, the more sideways it bounces, up to 60° from vertical.
- How do I score points?
- A one-hit brick gives 10 points. A two-hit brick gives 5 for the first hit and 20 when it breaks. Catching an item gives 25, and clearing a stage gives 100 × the stage number.
- What happens after the last stage?
- When all 15 stages are cleared, the game ends and shows your final score. Press "Play again" to start from the beginning.
