Snake Game
The classic: steer the snake, eat, and grow without crashing
Loading the tool…
The classic snake game: steer a snake that grows longer with every food it eats, without crashing into the walls or its own body. It works with a keyboard and with touch on a phone.
How to use
- Choose the "Speed" and "Board size", and switch on "Speed up with every food", "Pass through walls (come out the other side)" or "Add obstacles" if you like.
- Press an arrow key or Space to start. On a phone, tap or swipe the board.
- Change direction with the arrow keys or W, A, S, D. On a phone, swipe the board, or switch on "Show on-screen direction buttons" and use the buttons.
- Press Space or P to pause. After a game over, press Enter or Space to play again at once.
How it works
- Each food is worth 10 points and makes the snake one square longer. Hitting a wall, the snake's own body or an obstacle ends the game.
- With "Pass through walls" on, the snake comes out on the opposite side instead of crashing. The board sizes are 14 × 14, 18 × 18 and 24 × 24 squares.
- Two quick turns in a row are both applied in order, and the game pauses by itself when you switch tabs.
- Best scores are kept separately for each combination of settings, on this device only.
Questions and answers
- How do you play the snake game?
- The snake keeps moving forward, and you can only change its direction. Eating food makes it longer, and the game ends when its head touches a wall or its own body.
- Can I play snake on a phone?
- Yes. Swipe the board in the direction you want the snake to turn. If swiping is awkward, switch on "Show on-screen direction buttons" and use the Up, Down, Left and Right buttons.
- Why did my best score disappear?
- Best scores are saved separately for each combination of speed, board size, walls and other settings. After you change a setting, the record for that combination is shown, and records do not move to other devices or browsers.
