Pong
The original paddle game, against the computer or a friend on one screen

Pong is the classic paddle game in which you return the ball until the other side misses it. Play alone against the computer, or with two players on one screen using the keyboard or touch.
How to use
- Under "Players", choose "1 player" or "2 players"; for one player, also set the "Computer level".
- Choose the "Points to win" (5, 11 or 21 points) and press "Start".
- Move your paddle with W and S, the arrow keys, the mouse or by dragging. With two players, the left player uses W and S and the right player uses ↑ and ↓; on a touch screen each player drags on their own half.
- Press Space or tap the screen to serve, and press P or Esc to pause.
How it works
- The further from the centre of the paddle the ball hits, the steeper it flies off, and the ball gets a little faster with each paddle hit.
- The first side to reach the points to win takes the match, and the side that lost the point serves next.
- When a phone is held upright, the court turns so the players are at the top and bottom. Settings are saved in this browser.
Questions and answers
- Can I play Pong with two players?
- Yes. Choose "2 players" to play on one screen. On a keyboard one player uses W and S and the other uses ↑ and ↓; on a touch screen both players drag on their own half at the same time.
- What changes between the computer levels?
- On "Easy" the computer looks at the ball less often, aims less accurately and moves its paddle more slowly. On "Hard" it reacts faster and makes smaller errors.
- What kind of game is Pong?
- Pong is an arcade game released by Atari in 1972, based on table tennis. Each player moves a paddle on one side of the screen, and a point is scored when the other player misses the ball.
