Spider Solitaire
Build runs from King to Ace in suit to clear the table
Loading the tool…
Spider solitaire is played with two decks (104 cards) in 10 columns: build runs of one suit from K down to A and clear all eight to win. You can play with 1, 2 or 4 suits.
How to use
- Under "Settings", choose the number of "Suits". If you are new to the game, start with "1 (easy)".
- Drag a card onto a card one rank higher, or tap it to send it where it can go.
- When no useful move is left, tap the stock to deal one card to each of the ten columns.
- Press "Hint" when you are stuck and "Undo" to take back a move. "Replay this deal" starts the same cards again.
How it works
- Any card can go on a card one rank higher, but several cards move together only as a run of one suit in descending order. Any card can go into an empty column.
- The deal puts 54 cards on the table, and the other 50 stay in the stock for five deals. By default you cannot deal while a column is empty.
- The score starts at 500, drops by 1 for every move (dealing and undo included) and rises by 100 for each completed run.
- The game in progress and the statistics for each number of suits are saved only in this browser on this device.
Questions and answers
- How do you play Spider solitaire?
- Build down in the columns one rank at a time. When 13 cards of one suit from K to A are in order, that run is cleared, and clearing all eight runs wins the game.
- What is the difference between 1, 2 and 4 suits?
- With 1 suit all 104 cards are spades; with 2 or 4 suits they are spread over two or four suits. More suits make same-suit runs harder to build, so the game is harder.
- Why can I not deal when a column is empty?
- Under the standard rule every column must hold at least one card before you deal. Set "Deal while a column is empty" to "Allowed" to deal anyway.
