FreeCell
Use four free cells to sort every card — almost every deal is solvable
Loading the tool…
FreeCell is a solitaire card game in which you use four free cells to sort all 52 cards by suit. Every deal has a number, so you can replay the same layout or solve the same deal as someone else.
How to use
- Press "New game" for a new deal. To play a particular deal, enter it under "Deal number" and press "Play this deal".
- Drag cards, or tap a card to send it to a foundation, then the tableau, then a free cell, whichever it can go to first.
- When you are stuck, press "Hint". Press "Undo" to take back a move, or "Replay this deal" to start the same deal again.
- You win when every card is on the foundations, by suit from A to K.
How it works
- On a tableau column, place a card one rank lower and of the other colour. Each free cell holds only one card.
- You can move (empty free cells + 1) × 2^(empty columns) cards at once; when the target is an empty column, that column is not counted. The board shows how many cards you can move right now.
- Deals 1 to 32,000 match the widely used deal numbering. The game in progress and your statistics (games played, win rate, best time) are saved in this browser.
Questions and answers
- Can every FreeCell deal be solved?
- Almost every deal can. Among the widely used deals 1 to 32,000, deal 11982 is known to be unsolvable.
- Why can I not move several cards at once?
- The number of cards you can move depends on your empty free cells and empty columns. With 2 empty free cells and no empty column you can move 3 cards; with one empty column as well you can move 6.
- Why do cards move to the foundations by themselves?
- "Move safe cards up automatically" is on. Only cards that are no longer needed on the tableau go up. You can turn it off in the settings; the change applies from the next deal.
- How can I play the same deal as a friend?
- Enter the same deal number and press "Play this deal". You both get the same layout.
