Solitaire (Klondike)
The classic single-player card game
Loading the tool…
Klondike solitaire is the classic single-player card game: build all 52 cards up by suit from A to K on four foundations.
How to use
- Under "Settings", choose "Cards turned at a time" and "Stock reuse". They apply from the next deal.
- Tap the stock to turn cards. Drag a card to move it, or tap it to send it where it can go.
- Press "Hint" when you are stuck and "Undo" to take back moves, as many as you like.
- Press "Replay this deal" to play the same cards again, or enter a "Deal number" and press "Play this deal".
How it works
- On the tableau, place a card one rank lower and of the other colour. Only a K, or a run starting with a K, can go into an empty column.
- When the stock and waste are empty and every tableau card is face up, the remaining cards move to the foundations by themselves.
- Scoring follows the standard Windows system, for example +10 for a move to a foundation and −2 every 10 seconds. The full table is under "Rules and scoring".
- The game in progress and the statistics for each setting are saved only in this browser on this device.
Questions and answers
- What are the rules of Klondike solitaire?
- Seven columns are dealt with 1 to 7 cards, top card face up. Build the columns down in alternating colours, and win by building all four foundations up by suit from A to K.
- What is the difference between draw 1 and draw 3?
- In draw 1 you turn one card at a time and can use every card. In draw 3 you turn three cards and can only use the top one, which is harder.
- Can every game of solitaire be won?
- No. Some deals cannot be solved however you play. When no card can be moved, the page tells you.
- What is the deal number?
- A number from 1 to 999,999 that fixes the shuffle. The same number always gives the same deal, so two people can play the same game.
