Sea Battle
Find and sink the hidden fleet before yours is sunk
Loading the tool…
A sea battle game in which you call squares on a 10 × 10 grid to find and sink the five hidden ships of your opponent. Play against the computer or with two players passing one device.
How to use
- Under "Game settings", choose the "Opponent", the "Computer level" and options such as "Ships may touch" and "Fire again after a hit".
- Drag the ships onto the grid and tap a selected ship again to rotate it, or press "Random placement".
- When all ships are placed, press "Start the battle". With two players, press "Done placing" and hand the device to the other player.
- Tap a square in "Enemy waters" to fire. A dot is a miss, ✕ is a hit, and dark squares are sunk ships.
How it works
- The fleet is a Carrier (5 squares), a Battleship (4), a Cruiser (3), a Submarine (3) and a Destroyer (2). You win when you hit all 17 squares of the other fleet.
- With "Ships may touch" off, ships need at least one empty square between them, diagonals included.
- The computer fires anywhere on Easy, follows a ship after a hit on Medium, and on Hard fires at the square where the remaining ships are most likely to be.
- The game in progress and the "Fewest shots" record for each level are saved in this browser.
Questions and answers
- What are the rules of a ship guessing game?
- Each player hides a fleet, and the players take turns firing at one square of the other grid. The first player to sink every ship of the other fleet wins.
- What is the fewest number of shots to win?
- The fleet covers 17 squares, so a game without a single miss takes 17 shots. Accuracy is the number of hits divided by the number of shots.
- With two players, can the other player see my ships?
- The screen is covered after placing and after every turn. The next player must press "I'm ready" before the next screen opens.
