Tic-tac-toe, Gomoku and Connect Four for two players taking turns on one screen. Play with a friend or against the computer.
How to use
- Choose "Tic-tac-toe", "Gomoku" or "Connect Four" from the tabs at the top.
- Under "Opponent", choose "Two players, one screen" or "Computer". For tic-tac-toe and Connect Four, also choose the "Computer level".
- Tap a square or a column to play. With a keyboard, move with the arrow keys and press Enter.
- When a game ends, press "New game". Press "Swap who starts" to change the first player. Wins are added to the scoreboard.
How it works
- To win, line up three marks on the 3 × 3 tic-tac-toe board, five or more stones on the 15 × 15 or 19 × 19 Gomoku board, or four discs on the 7-column, 6-row Connect Four board.
- Gomoku uses free-style rules with Black first; the forbidden moves of Renju are not applied. The Gomoku computer uses a simple pattern evaluation and plays at a beginner level.
- For Gomoku on a phone, use "Zoom" and switch on "Preview the spot and tap again to confirm" to avoid misplaced taps.
- The games in progress and the scoreboard are saved in this browser.
Questions and answers
- Can you always win at tic-tac-toe?
- No. If both players make no mistakes, tic-tac-toe always ends in a draw. The computer on "Hard" never loses, so choose "Easy" or play a friend if you want to win.
- Are there forbidden moves in this Gomoku?
- No. It uses free-style rules, so there are no forbidden moves. Either player wins by lining up five or more stones first.
- What are the rules of Connect Four?
- When you choose a column, your disc drops to the lowest empty space in it. The first player to line up four discs across, down or diagonally wins, and a full board is a draw.
- Can two people play on one device?
- Yes. Choose "Two players, one screen" and take turns. The current turn is shown above the board, and wins and draws over several games are kept on the scoreboard.
