Test & Quiz Maker (Printable)
Type your questions to lay out a printable test, shuffle versions A and B, and get the answer key
Loading the tool…
Lays out numbered questions as a printable test, shuffles question and choice order into versions A and B, and makes the answer key. Use it for quizzes, unit tests and worksheets without a word processor.
How to use
- Type or paste the questions, numbered like "1. Question", and put * before the right choice. Load the example first to see the format.
- Under "Header", fill in the "Test title", "School" and "Subject" and choose the name and score boxes.
- Under "Layout and versions", choose the "Columns", "Text size", "Choice labels" and "Versions", and turn on "Shuffle question order" and "Shuffle choice order".
- Under "Print", choose "Test pages", the answer key or the "Answer entry sheet", then print.
How it works
- Question types are multiple choice, true/false, short answer, written answer, matching, fill in the blank and passage groups. [3] gives the points, = the answer, > an explanation, and $ marks maths; "How to type questions" lists every mark.
- A choice starting with ! keeps its place when shuffling, and questions never move across a section title (#). The same "Shuffle number" gives the same versions again.
- This is a tool for printing; there is no online test or automatic grading. Your work is saved on this device automatically.
Questions and answers
- How do I make versions A and B of a test?
- Choose A·B under "Versions" and turn on shuffling. The answer key has a table for each version, and "Keep version A in typed order" leaves version A unshuffled.
- Can I paste questions from a document?
- Yes. Numbered questions and choices labeled A. B. or ① ② are read, including choices written on one line. Mark the right choice with *, or write = B under the choices.
- Can several questions share one reading passage?
- Put the passage between two lines of ===; the questions after it belong to it until a line of ---. The group stays together when shuffling.
- Can I reuse questions from an earlier test?
- Press "Keep this test in the bank". When you make the next test, pick its questions under "Question bank (reuse earlier tests)".
