Venn Diagram Maker
Fill in a 2- or 3-circle Venn diagram and print it or save it as an image
Loading the tool…
Fill in each area of a 2- or 3-circle Venn diagram, then print it or save it as an image. Use it for compare-and-contrast worksheets and for set problems with intersections and unions.
How to use
- Under "Template", choose 2 circles, 3 circles, "Subset" or "Disjoint". The T-chart, KWL chart and comparison table work the same way.
- Enter the "Title" and the circle names, and under "What goes in each area" type the items for each area, one per line.
- Choose the circle colors and "Color strength". Text wraps and resizes to fit the shape of each area.
- Press "Print filled", "Print blank worksheet", "Save PNG" or "Save SVG".
How it works
- In "Set calculator" mode, type the elements of each set; the intersection, union and differences are placed in the right areas and counted. Repeated elements count once.
- The counting formula is n(A∪B) = n(A) + n(B) − n(A∩B), and with three circles the same principle is extended to three sets.
- The blank worksheet keeps the title, circle names and headings and leaves the items empty. What you type is saved in this browser.
Questions and answers
- How do I make a compare-and-contrast Venn diagram?
- Use the 2-circle template, name the circles after the two things, write what they share in the overlap and what is different in the other areas. For students to fill in, press "Print blank worksheet".
- Can it draw a Venn diagram from set elements?
- Switch "Input" to "Set calculator" and type the elements. For the numbers 1 to 12 with A = multiples of 2 and B = multiples of 3, A∩B = {6, 12} and n(A∪B) = 6 + 4 − 2 = 8.
- Can it show the universal set and complements?
- Fill in "Universal set U (optional)". Elements that are in no set go in the outside area, and complements are calculated.
- What if the text does not fit in an area?
- A warning names the areas that overflow. Remove some items or make them shorter.
