Classroom Jobs & Duty Rotation Chart

Assign classroom jobs from your roster and build a weekly rotation chart

Loading the tool…

Assigns classroom jobs from a job list and a class list, builds a rotation chart that moves every student through the jobs evenly, and makes a group chart for cleaning or lunch areas. Use it when you set up class jobs or duty rosters.

How to use

  1. Under "Jobs", write one job per line as job, number of people, and put one name per line under "Students". The 12 example jobs can be edited.
  2. If needed, write 1st to 3rd choices, fixed jobs and exclusions under "Wishes, fixed jobs and exclusions", one line each as Name: job.
  3. On "Assign jobs", press "Draw jobs". Then press "Save this assignment" and "Print chart" or "Print student slips".
  4. To plan several weeks, set "Number of turns" and "Change every" on "Rotation chart". For jobs done by groups, use "Group area chart".

How it works

Questions and answers

What happens when there are more students than jobs?
The extra students have no job that turn, and their names appear under the chart. In the rotation chart, the turns off are shared evenly among the students.
How are student job wishes handled?
Write one line per student as Name: 1st, 2nd, 3rd choice. Choices are filled in order, and when several students want the same job, a lot decides. The page shows how many got their 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice.
How do I rotate cleaning duties by group?
Open "Group area chart" and enter the "Number of groups" and the "Cleaning or lunch areas". If there are more groups than areas, some groups are off each turn.
Can I make the same rotation chart again?
Yes. The same "Chart code (seed)" makes the same chart. Press "Make another order" for a different one.
